{Last drops of summer}

The August and September weather in the PNW did not disappoint.  Even now that school is in full swing, we have had days and days of sunshine.  But I'm already mourning the loss of summer.
Schedules flew out the window.  Cleaning and projects were left undone.  Checklists were not finished.  When it came down to a clean house or a fun family outing, the family time won every time.  Summer days with light until almost 10pm don't last forever.  We eked out every last minute.
We were gone so much this summer that we didn't ever have a chance to feel bored being at home.  There was plenty of biking riding, slip n' slide, popsicles, bbq, movie nights, sleeping in, friends, easy dinners outside, parks and sunshine.
I didn't pull my big camera out very often, in favor of my iPhone and instagram.
But the kids begged for some legit slip n slide shots on one of our 90+ degree August days.
Love this kid.
And yah, they completely 'matted down' the grass after 2 days straight on the slip n' slide. Trevor is still trying to get it to recover. So worth it though.
One night we jumped at the chance at family night at the Tacoma Rainier's baseball game.  The stadium is only 25 min from our house...making it much easier (and cheaper) than seeing the Seattle Mariners.  I love watching a baseball game in person...even though I can never get into it watching on TV.  Definitely something about being there!  So we grabbed the family tickets, free hats, some overpriced hotdogs, met a few friends, and enjoyed a really fun night.  This minor league team was really good and just as fun to watch as the big guys up North.  Plus there was so much more personal interaction for the kids...they were on the big jumbotron a few times because they were rocking out to the music.  Plus beachballs in the audience bouncing around were quite the hit with the kidlets. They were diving over benches and seats to get a hand on one!
 And at the end of the game they let the kids who stayed (it was after 10pm!) run the bases.  How cool is that?

Why I {Blog}

My little blog is a family journal. I include things on here I want to remember years and years from now. So when I post a zillion is because I want to have it for my posterity. So please forgive the often posted-picture overload.

Currently I am trying to focus on my photography skills...reading, reading, reading, and taking pictures when I can. Then edit, read, read, read some more. I finally feel like I have a basic understanding of exposure...hooray! I updated my blog template so I can display larger photos because...aren't pictures better than anything I have to say anyway?

More about me here.
